Tidbits

It's so hard to blog, when I can't show you all what I'm currently working on. It's frustrating! Here's a little sample of a doodle pattern I'm working on.

I'm really hoping to figure out & order fabric to replace these lovely Xmas wrapping paper "curtains" we've been living with for months. So tacky!

I've also been doing some online shopping. Nothing very fun, just staples, but I'm still excited. Can't wait until the day that the item I order arrives moments after I order it. I'm just a little bit impatient.

What I'm loving right now

In a yard where I like very little, this little beauty was a very welcome surprise. I LOVE the color!!!! It almost makes up for the 13 rose bushes, most of which are in colors I do not like. I really don't care for roses at all to be honest. I can't wait to replace them with something else!

I am also loving my greenhouse window. Oh the possibilities!

I already had all of these pots, so for very little money, my window is all dressed up. I can't wait to draw these little lovelies.

My favorite all time flower is the Gerber daisy. I love all daisies, but the Gerber is the queen! There're like sunshine, happiness, & fun all rolled up in one scrumptious flower. Please don't notice the gunk in the bottom of the pool. It's on my to do list.

How can you not smile at these? I wish I could've taken them all home! I hope you're having a lovely spring!

Sunshine Award

I was so happy to receive this wonderful award from my Twitter buddy Elizabeth Caldwell. She's one of the reasons I love Twitter so much. I've met many great people through Twitter and blogging. It makes working from home so much more fun and rewarding. There's always someone to talk to and bounce ideas off of.

Here's a partial list of my favorite bloggers. I follow so many it's really tough to narrow it down. I opted not to nominate the same people as Elizabeth did. I don't want to overwhelm anyone.

Now it's your turn to brighten someone's day by nominating your favs for a Sunshine Award:

1) Put the logo on your blog or within your post
2) Pass the award to 12-well-deserving bloggers
3) Link the nominees within your post
4) Share the news by leaving a comment on their blog
5) Link to the person from whom you received the award

Go and make someone's day. Keep the smiles traveling!

My Budding Designer

Last fall, my youngest handed me this sketch, informing me that he wanted to have me make it for him. He was in his Michael Jackson phase as you can see from the colors he specced. I talked him into a more subtle palette, searched for fabric, and a pattern that was close enough. Then we bought a house and my life turned upside down. I begged my mom to take over the project and she graciously agreed.Today, she brought over the results. I love it!!!! It's in a microsuede and tweed. I had the twead left over from a long ago, unfinished project. So happy to have found a use for it. Still needs a little tweaking in the fit, but he's happy. I think this guy has a future in fashion design. What do you think?

This & That

Life is slowly returning to normal around here. There are only a couple of boxes left inside, the garage is quite another story. My studio is coming together, too. There are just a few tweaks left to do, so I can actually work in here now. So exciting.

My studio gets eastern light, so I was happy to see this the other morning. The disco ball ornament I have hanging from the ceiling was throwing dots of sunlight all over the room.

On Sunday, I had a bit of time to create some art, so I painted some tiny 1" color pencil artworks for these frames I had laying around. I'm thinking of selling them in my Etsy shop. I'll let you know.

Last week I collaged these letters for the boys' doors. I haven't decided whether to paint them also. These have been on my craft to do list for awhile. Is it weird to have a craft to do list?

Here's a sneak peak of what I'm working on now. It's fun to combine acrylic paint, crayon, & Photoshop.
