More collage—Birdhouse

Another birdhouse that I collaged with a page from an old book. I just can't seem to get enough of birdhouses.

This is a gift from my son. He made it for me at boy scout camp. What a sweetie. I'll be hanging it in my studio.

Birdhouse Frame collage

I just finished this the other day. Had to wait for good light to photograph it. I had so much fun making this, that I may make some more to sell in my shop. Any interest out there?

Sneak Peak-Collage

Just a little sneak peak of what I'm working on this week. It's part of a bigger piece. It needs just one more element before it's complete.

Little Guy is missing his brother big time. They're usually inseparable. Big Guy is at Boy Scout Camp this week having a world of wonderful experiences, I'm sure.

Finished Star Collage Painting

Here's the finished painting. The words were added in Photoshop. I'll let this one sit for a bit and decide if it is truly finished. Maybe I'll be bold and add the type to the actual painting.

Summer so far

I'm working on a new collage painting in between all of our activities and errands. I hope to finish it tomorrow and I'll post the result.

The last game of spring soccer.

Hanging out with a fur brother.

Boys will be boys.

Saw a great post about cell phone etiquette here.

Etsy shop update

Summer has started and we're very excited around here. Lot's of plans, lot's of relaxation on the agenda. I hope to paint on a regular basis if the kids cooperate. They have a list of projects they want me to work on with them. It should be a creative summer around here.

One of my goals this year is to offer more products in my Etsy shop. As a first step, I'm offering 4 new prints from my collage painting line. Please spread the word. I'm hoping for much success this summer. I have a few surprises to share in the near future. This year has been one of experimentation in my art. It's so freeing to try out different materials and ways of working. Reading other artist's blogs has been such an amazing source of inspiration. Here are a few of my most recent favorites.

Please post here and let me know which artists are currently inspiring you. The collaborative nature of social media really helps with the isolation most artist's work in.

Happy Summer!

You Make a Difference Painting

This little bird is for a very special teacher my son had this year in 2nd grade. Private schools are being hit hard in this economy, too. She won't be returning next year, but hopefully she will as things get better. She is truly a gift to her students. Thank you Mrs. Rendler!

I've had the pleasure of being interviewed by illustrator, Elena French on her blog. Please check it out here.

This is another one of my collage paintings using an old book I bought a couple of weeks ago. I was hesitant to rip out pages, but I got over that quickly when I saw the results. I can't wait to start my next set of paintings. Hopefully, that'll be this weekend.

8th Birthday invite & Illustration Friday--Adapt

We're all really into Star Trek, so it was a natural choice for my little guy's 8th birthday. Because of all the craziness around here, I had to hustle to get this done in time. Above are my two boys as Star Trek characters. You can't see it here, but the Borg has freckles just like my son. I think this also works for Illustration Friday, since the Borg are all about adapting.

I'm not the most attentive gardener, but, luckily, most of the plants do fine without my help. I always wanted a cottagy garden, but I was still surprised to realize that I finally achieved that goal.
